I have been busy travelling around again this year to bring you some more exciting images – someone has to do it! In consequence, I am just getting down to belatedly updating my website but I do love painting! I have painted quite a bit this year ‘en plein air’ – both oils and watercolour in London and the South East. I have been hampered from getting about with walking difficulties, but pleased to report that a hip replacement in November has been a great success.
It was great to be associated with the Help for Heroes Exhibition in Beverley, Yorkshire in February which made nearly £20,000 for this excellent cause. Many famous painters contributed from home and overseas and it was a real occasion.
In 2010 I have painted in Florida, Tenerife, West Scotland, Skye, Suffolk, Catalonia, Paxos and Corfu to name but a few. In Catalonia, I painted with Joseph Zbukvic and it was a great revelation. He is one of the finest master watercolour painters in the world. The pattern will be similar in 2011. Our first away trip away is an exciting visit to Cuba in March.
I had an article printed in the Leisure Painter on travelling light when you go out painting, which with current weight restrictions when flying with budget airlines is pretty important. My watercolour kit weighs just 3 kilos and I can carry it around all day! |
